Inside the Flizen toolkit
More behind every detail.
Flizen is a CAD add-on with advanced 2D tools for engineers and drafters in aluminium joinery and facade design. Explore how geometry, parts and information come together in your drawing.
A connected facade detail
Early development buildSheet metal, membrane, insulation, a fastener and annotations in one GstarCAD drawing.
All 22 screenshots come from the real application. They retain the language of the original interface; captions explain each example. The toolkit is under development.

Parametric 2D details
Draw the elements used every day in aluminium and facade details. Set their parameters, inspect the preview and return to their settings when the design changes.
- Sheet metal and membranes: thickness, placement, bends and representation.
- Soft and hard insulation along paths or within selected boundaries.
- Welds and seals, including sealant and backing rods.
- Round holes and slots, with countersinks, counterbores and axis markings.
Sheet metal parameters
Early development buildThickness, bend radius, placement, material and hatching, with a geometry preview.
Foils and membranes
Early development buildThickness, length, rounding and display settings for a membrane layer.
Insulation settings
Early development buildInsulation type, thickness and pattern proportions, with several methods for defining its geometry.
Straight and curved boundaries
Early development buildA curved insulation strip and an insulated area with a curved boundary in the actual drawing.
Weld representations
Early development buildWidth, bulge and placement, with arc, line and cross display options.
Sealant and backing rod
Early development buildThe seal settings alongside the resulting detail geometry in CAD.
Round hole in section
Early development buildA round hole with countersink diameter, angle and axis settings.
Slotted hole in plan
Early development buildSlot width and length, a counterbore and axis markings in a plan view.
A hole in the facade detail
Early development buildHole settings and their drawing context, together with neighbouring parts and layers.

Parts, libraries and databases
Standard Parts supports selection and insertion into drawings. Data Center organises part definitions, reusable building blocks and revisions in part databases.
- Browse categories, search parts and preview the selected variant.
- Choose the dimensions exposed by a part definition and insert its 2D representation.
- Prepare your own databases of parts and reusable components in the authoring workflow.
Select a standard part
Early development buildA fastener from the example library, with a preview and controls for diameter, length and variant.
Data Center: parts and revisions
Early development buildThe connected example database, part list and preview. This entry uses analytical 2D views; it contains no complete 3D model.
Reusable building blocks
Early development buildSeparate definitions for a head, washer, drill tip and gasket in the database’s building-block list.

Object data and materials
Flizen objects hold structured properties that other tools can use. Material settings bring names, layers, hatching and technical properties into the same workflow.
- Object properties provide source values for semantic annotation fields.
- Organise materials by code, name and group.
- Define material profiles for drawing appearance and supported physical or bend properties.
Material library
Early development buildMaterial groups, codes and names, with profiles for layers, hatching and technical properties.

Intelligent annotations
Use material, thickness, length and other supported properties directly in a label. Linked fields can follow changes to their source object while the layout and manual additions remain under your control.
- Combine semantic fields with your own text and units.
- Manage text, leaders, scales, appearance and annotation configurations.
- Prepare labels in different languages, independently of the website language.
A label built from object data
Early development buildDesignation, material, thickness, length and units composed into a sheet-metal annotation.
Annotation appearance and scale
Early development buildText and leader styles, drawing scale, alignment and background options in the same editor.
Configurations and development diagnostics
Early development buildThis development screenshot reports an unreadable saved configuration library. Its data is retained and the Standard Flizen configuration remains available.

Drawing and documentation tools
Move from detail geometry to an organised sheet with tools for construction, editing and presentation. Profile projection also supports creating a representation along a chosen path.
- Auxiliary lines: directions, offsets, bisectors and perpendiculars.
- Tools for joining, splitting, cutting and selective covering of supported geometry.
- Create layout viewports with scale, spacing, source markings and model synchronisation.
Create viewports
Early development buildChoose the layout, scale and spacing, with options for source markings, model synchronisation and separators.
Construction tools in the ribbon
Early development buildThe auxiliary-line menu open above a real facade detail, showing directions, offsets and other construction methods.
06In development
Part construction, 3D and assemblies
Build FSP develops reusable building blocks, parameter relationships and 3D construction to support consistent part views for 2D documentation. Work on 3D and assemblies is ongoing; the final scope may change.
A part built from components
Early development buildThe Build FSP construction tree, with a shared head component selected.
Parameter relationships
Early development buildThe thread zone selected in a construction tree with rules for component length and placement.
The developing 3D workshop
Early development buildA real shaded part model, its analytical profile and construction history. The workshop’s scope is evolving.
Built from everyday engineering
A substantial toolkit. A practical purpose.
Flizen grows out of hands-on work with facade documentation and the small, repetitive tasks that fill a designer’s day.
Around 160,000 lines of code already underpin the project: native C++ CAD modules, a WPF interface on .NET 8, and Open CASCADE geometry for the developing 3D workshop.
